What a raven carries to us
A quote request brings your name, an email address, whichever program and school you name, the art you picked from the list, and whatever you decide to write in the box marked the tale so far. A subscription to the dispatch brings an email address by itself. A petition for a charter brings your name, your email, the program you finished with the guild and the region you live in.
You choose how much of that box to fill. Students often write two lines and get a useful answer; the detail helps us price honestly, but nothing beyond the name and the email is required of you.
Who inside the guild can read it
The keeper who answers your raven, and the mentor matched to your subject. That is the whole list. Mentors in other halls have no reason to see your particulars and are given no way to.
Every mentor signs a standing confidentiality agreement before a single engagement reaches them, and the keeper of the seal audits who has looked at what.
What the guild will not do, at any price
We will not sell what you gave us, rent it, or trade it to anyone. We will not write to your university, your faculty, your employer or your family, and we never have. We will not put your name in marketing: the chronicle carries initials and a field of study, which costs us something in persuasiveness and is not open to discussion.
An email address given to get a quote is not added to the dispatch. If you want the dispatch you have to ask for it, and one press of the unsubscribe line ends it for good.
Cookies, trackers, and the lack of them
This site sets no advertising pixels, runs no third-party trackers, and builds no profile of you across other sites. It keeps no login of its own because it has nothing to log in to. Ordinary web-server logs exist as they do on every site on the internet and rotate out on the host's normal schedule.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means that request reaches Google's servers as it does on a great many sites. Nothing identifying you is attached to it by us.
How long records are kept, and how to end them
While an engagement is live, and afterwards only as long as our accounts require. Write to ravens@meritlore.com from the address we hold and we will delete your contact record and strike you from any list it appears on. You do not have to give a reason, and being asked for one would be its own kind of answer.
A person answers, not a form
Anything here you want explained, or anything you want removed, goes to ravens@meritlore.com. A keeper reads it, usually within two hours, and replies as a person. If something in this notice does not match what you were told when you wrote in, tell us and we will correct whichever of the two is wrong.
