What Meritlore is, and what it is not

Meritlore is an independent guild of credentialed mentors working with online-university students: coursework coaching, practicum and preceptor placement assistance, IRB and research counsel, capstone and dissertation mentoring, essay and assignment guidance, examination preparation and week-by-week support.

The guild is affiliated with no university, endorsed by none and sponsored by none. School names appear on this site to say where our mentors have worked and what those courserooms actually demand. Nothing here is a claim of partnership with any institution named.

Guild law: the work is yours

Every mentor here coaches; the student authors. Work comes back to you to read, to change and to submit under your own hand, and the standards bench audits engagements to confirm it happened that way. This is not a disclaimer bolted on at the end, it is the shape of the service, and a mentor who tried to work around it would not stay in the guild.

It follows that how you use our counsel inside your school's own rules is your decision and your responsibility. Where a program requires something that only you can do — a proctored sitting, a recorded presentation, clinical hours on a real floor — we will tell you plainly and prepare you for it rather than pretend otherwise.

The reading, and the quote that follows

Every engagement opens with a reading of what you actually have: the syllabus, the rubrics, where the gradebook stands. That reading costs nothing and returns a quote setting out the scope, the dates and the price. You owe nothing for asking, and nothing until you accept.

Work starts once a quote is accepted and the agreed payment or deposit has cleared. Anything not written into the quote is not part of the engagement; if the course turns out to hold more than the syllabus showed, you get a revised quote rather than a surprise.

Sometimes the answer to a reading is no. If nobody in the building holds the credential your subject needs, or the term is genuinely past saving, we say so then rather than in week nine.

Dates, and what happens when one slips

A date on an accepted quote is a commitment of the guild, not an aspiration. If anything threatens it you hear from us early, while there is still room to act. Where a deliverable is late for reasons on our side and no alternative is agreed with you, the affected portion of the fee is returned.

Revisions

Written work carries a courtesy revision for seven days after delivery, measured against the original scope. Revisions that expand the scope are quoted as new work, and we will say which one we think you are asking for before doing either. Where a faculty member has returned something, that revision goes to the front of the queue.

Discretion

Your identity, your school and everything inside your engagement are confidential. Records carry a client number rather than a name. Mentors work under standing non-disclosure agreements. What appears against a payment says nothing about what was bought, and the guild does not initiate contact with your institution or your employer for any reason.

The charter, for affiliates

A charter is open to alumni of the guild who meet their region's criteria. A share accrues on completed and paid engagements taken by students you introduce, and settles on the first of each month. Engagements that are self-referred, fraudulent or charged back do not accrue.

A share may be taken as credit toward your own next program instead of as money, at the same value. Earnings figures shown anywhere on this site are what particular charters have earned, not what a charter typically earns, and are not a promise of income to you. A charter carries no quota and no minimum, and you may close it whenever you like; shares already earned on legitimate engagements are still settled after you do.

Limits, and which version governs

Services are provided as set out in each accepted quote, and the liability of the guild on an engagement is limited to the sum paid for that engagement. These terms and your accepted quote together form the whole of the agreement between us. If the terms change later, the version standing on the day you accepted your quote is the one that governs it.
